The Outback Oven folds flat, weighs only ounces, and yet includes everything you need to turn your camp or backpacking stove, or even campfire coals, into an oven that allows you to cook nearly everything you could on your home range. Our family has enjoyed ours for years, cooking everything from biscuits and cornbread, to cakes and cinnamon rolls. The Outback Oven can turn out pizzas, cakes, pies, casseroles, mushroom quiche, pesto pizza, lasagna – anything you can bake in your home oven. You no longer have to miss baked goods in the backcountry, and what a lift they provide after an hard day of packing. The Outback Oven’s system consists of a simple nonstick, coated frying pan and lid, plus a heat diffuser that raises the pan from the stove burner to prevent scorching, and an aluminized fiberglass dome that fits over the oven to trap and circulate heat. A thermometer is built into the lid handle that makes keeping track of cooking temperatures a breeze. You can use baking mixes sold by Backpackers Pantry, concoct your own recipes and mixes, or bring store brought mixes. The pan can be used for frying as well, so that helps with the weight.
