The Companion is Freeplay Energy’s most compact, portable radio and flashlight. Weighing in at only 8 oz., it is perfect to take with you anywhere. Don’t let the small size and light weight fool you. This radio incorporates the latest advances of Freeplay’s direct drive, self power system; allowing you to listen to your favorite AM/FM radio station for up to 20 minutes after winding it for just 60 seconds. The Freeplay Companion features a 3 LED flashlight with optics designed to give you a focused light beam. 1 min. of winding gives you 30 min. of shine time. The Companion can even be used to charge your cell phone (Nokia charge cable included). You can charge the Companion even while listening, lighting your way or talking on your cell phone.

Winding the crank directly turns the generator, which charges the internal memory free NIMH batteries. With the direct drive system the Companion can be rewound at any time, for any length of time, for as much play time as you want. The Companion can be rewound without interrupting radio reception, and has an LED charge level indicator which tells you the best speed to wind.

That’s not all, the Companion also has a built in solar panel allowing it to play continuously when in sunlight. Its internal power storage system will automatically save all available personal and solar power, giving you up to 12 hours of uninterrupted play time.

It has jacks for head phones, and any standard mini-USB AC charger (not included) can be used to power or recharge your radio. The rubberized grip makes the Companion easy to carry and use.
